Stratospheric and Mesospheric Pressure-Temperature Profiles From the Rotational Analysis of C02 Lines In ATMOS/ATLAS-l Infrared Solar Occultation Spectra

چکیده
A simple, classical, and expedient method for the retrieval of atmospheric pressuretemperature profiles has been applied to the high-resolution infrared solar absorption spectra obtained with the Atmospheric ‘I’race Molecule Spectroscopy (ATMOS) instrument. The basis for this method is a rotational analysis of retrieved apparent abundances from COZ rovibrational absorption lines, employing existing constituent concentration retrieval software used in the analysis of data returned by ATMOS. Pressure-temperature profiles derived from spectra acquired during the ATLAS-1 Space Shuttle mission of March-April 1992 are quantitatively evaluated and compared with climatological and meteorological data as a means of assessing the validity of this approach.

Heavy Ozone Enrichments from ATMOS Infrared Solar Spectra
Vertical enrichment profiles of stratospheric 160160180 and 160•80160 (hereafter referred to as 6680 3 and 6860 3 respectively) have been derived from space-based solar occultation spectra recorded at 0.01 cm -I resolution by the ATMOS (Atmospheric Trace MOlecule Spectroscopy) Fouriertransform infrared (FTIR) spectrometer. The observations, made during the Spacelab 3 and ATLAS-l, -2, and -3 shu...

متن کاملStratospheric NO and NO2 abundances from ATMOS SolarOccultation Measurements
Using results from a time-dependent photochemical model to calculate the diurnal variation of NO and NO2, we have corrected Atmospheric Trace MOlecule Spectroscopy (ATMOS) solar-occultation retrievals of the NO and NO 2 abundances at90 ø solar zenith angle. Neglecting to adjust for the rapid variation of these gases across the terminator results in potential errors in retrieved profiles of-20% ...

The ACE-FTS is a space-borne Fourier transform spectrometer onboard SCISAT-1. The satellite was launched in August 2003 and since February 2004the ACE-FTS has been performing solar occultation measurements since February 2004 in order to infer the chemical composition of the terrestrial atmosphere. The individual spectra recorded at the highest limb tangent altitudes (above 160 km) are by defin...
